Difference Dengue and Chikungunya

Dengue fever is somewhat similar to the fever of chikangunaya because both are diseases caused by breeding of mosquitoes. It is found that the symptoms of chikangunaya is somewhere similar to each other but there needs to be a lot of concern while differentiating between fever of dengue and the fever of chikangunaya.

Cause of Disease

Responsible Vector

Dengue is the fever caused by the bite of Aedes Aegypti whereas chikangunaya is caused by the bite of both Aedes Albopictus and Aedes Aegypti.

Chikangunaya is the virus which causes the disease of Chikangunaya whereas dengue is the disease which is caused by the four types of the serotypes.

Incubation Period

The fever in the case of dengue arises during the period of 3-4 days whereas in the case of Chikangunaya, symptoms appear after the duration of 1 week.

Symptoms

Dengue is the fever which is accompanied  by fever, headache which is very severe, pain in the joints, skin rashes, pain mostly in the behind side of an eye, nausea etc. Bleeding is one of the other common factors in the case of the dengue whereas the symptoms of Chikangunaya are fever, arthritis, headache, chills, etc.

Diagnosis

Dengue can be diagnosed by the following ways

  • Infection of the dengue fever can detect by the test of lgM and lgG.
  • Make a test in order to count the platelets.
  • Make a test which helping counting the white cells of blood.

Whereas Chikangunaya is the disease which can be cured by test in order  to determine isolation of viruses, testing of antibody of IgM as well by the identification of genetic gene of virus.
