Dengue Vaccine

There are some vaccines for yellow fever and the fever of Japanese encephalitis available which is somewhat similar to the fever of dengue.

There are four forms of dengue virus known by the name of serotypes. And it is also known that if one is infected by any virus of serotypes, it can start developing a lifelong immunity to the form. A vaccine is needed against the dengue fever which can help in raising the immunity for all the types. There is a vaccine which is available for all the types of viruses in the disease of measles, rubella, polio etc.

A major issue related to vaccination of dengue fever is that whether the vaccine is available  for dengue is helpful in generating the antibodies and make the people vulnerable to other diseases which are life threatening. According to the studies of Epidemiological, it is stated that number of dengue cases occurred in the people who were previously affected with any type of serotypes of virus. In cases where an individual gets infected with any of the serotypes, there is a situation where the antibodies produced in an individual creates complexities with the virus affected with previous, thereby worsening the disease.

Doctors are testing on various vaccines which work against the dengue fever. Sanofi Pasteur is the one who developed the vaccine against the disease of dengue. The vaccine by Sanofi Pasteur is in used in the clinical treatment of dengue. The vaccine developed by Sanofi Pasteur is based on the virus which is weakened and used in the vaccine of yellow fever. It is the virus which is designed to carry forward the genes for the dengue.
